The Union of Concerned Scientists has recently created a report that looks at where Florida's energy sources come from, and exactly how much per year the state spends on coal.
In 2008, Florida sent more than $1.56 billion out of state to import coal for electricity. Coal generates nearly 30% of our electricity- in contrast, renewable sources generate only about 2%!
