I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.

This month, we have three outings scheduled. Come join us! Both Sierra members and non-menbers are welcome; you will be asked to sign a standard liability waiver.

  • Saturday, Oct. 2nd Bike Seminole State Forest
  • Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 16th - 17th Paddle and overnight campout on a Mosquito Lagoon.
  • Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 23th - 24th Backpack Trip to Ocala National Forest.

(more details below)

  • Saturday, Oct. 2nd Bike Seminole State Forest at 9:30 am. This wilderness area is off limits to cars and so makes a good place to bike ride. We will meet at the parking area of SR46 and bike on a dirt road approx. 10 miles. Bring lunch and we will stop for a picnic at one of the primitive campgrounds. This huge wilderness area was set aside for wildlife and Florida black bears are often seen back here. Cost: $3.00 per person Contact Leader: Mary-Slater 407-481-4398  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

  • Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 16th - 17th Paddle and overnight campout on a Mosquito Lagoon. We will depart from Riverbreeze park in Oak Hill for a 3-4 mile paddle to an island campsite. The actual campsite will be scheduled approx. 30 days prior to the trip. There are no facilities: This is a primitive site and you have to bring everything you need (no water or bathroom). Each camper is asked to bring one Duraflame log. Departure from Riverbreeze will be at 9:00 am. • Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 23th - 24th Backpack Trip to Ocala National Forest. Contact leader for exact location, meeting time and details. We will hike about 6 miles to the campsite and back out the next day. Plenty of water is available to filter so you do need to carry it. This is a good beginner trip to the heart of the Ocala National Forest with pure woods and wilderness (on one of our trips, we saw Florida black bears), with minimal human intrusion. Contact Leader: Rodney Posey after 5 pm at 321-436-2349 or  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it *Public invited but group size is limited.
