The Outdoor Activity Training Program is bringing its highly successful Outings Leader Training Workshop back to Florida!

Do you already lead outings for the Sierra Club?

Want to find out what it takes to lead Sierra Club outings?

Are you a Sierra Club activist who wants to use outdoor activities to highlight local conservation issues?

Then this Outing Leader Training is for you!

You are invited to attend a weekend of interactive learning, networking with leaders from all Sierra Club outing programs, and of course, lots of fun. The purpose of this training is to provide leaders with the skills to plan safe, happy and inspiring outings that promote the conservation mission of the Sierra Club. This workshop provides the opportunity to welcome new outdoor leaders to the Sierra Club, share and exchange new trip ideas and learn what it takes to lead for other programs in the Club.

 

WHERE: At the Gold Head Branch State Park near Keystone Heights, FL (about 50 miles southwest of Jacksonville).

WHEN: October 29-31, 2010. (Fri-Sun)
Check-in begins at 5 p.m. & dinner from 6 p.m. Opening program begins Friday at 7:30 p.m. sharp. 
Workshop ends after workshop close and lunch on Sunday around 1 p.m.

COST: $45.  This includes all meals, snacks, lodging (bunk style) and instructional materials.       

WORKSHOP DETAILS:
This workshop is for new and seasoned leaders involved with or interested in Sierra Clubís Inner City Outings (ICO), Local Outings (Group & Chapter), and National Outings (the trips in Sierra magazine). 

The workshop agenda includes interactive modules on trip planning, interpersonal leadership skills assessment, group management strategies, emergency response practice and much more. 

Topics will be facilitated in both large group and small breakout group formats.  Sessions will also include teamwork and scenario-based role plays.

The workshop is facilitated by Sierra Club volunteers and staff who speak from a wealth of personal trip leading experience. 

This workshop will fulfill both the Sierra Club OLT 101 and OLT 201 leadership requirements!
